Templar Valkyrie - Aster Lockhart

READ THE DESCRIPTION PLEASE!

A couple of years ago (Nearly three years now), I posted up an incomplete for the protagonist of something I called "Templar." It looked something like this:



Well, today I'm here to present the fleshed out and finished design. My buddy Hedrick-CS took that original design and, with a few modifications and detailing added, gave me what you see above! So long with my posting this up, it's time I gave away more details about this lady knight and her story. As such, please meet Aster Lockhart.

Aster grew up in the medieval-fantasy world of Valkair. When she was young, a monster slaughtered her father and brother before her eyes but was slain itself before it could touch her. Her savoir was a knight from an order known simply as the Templars, an order of holy knights blessed by a goddess of light, who took an active and almost father-figure role for Aster following this tragedy so long as he was assigned to her village. When he was called away, he left Aster with two things: a magick sword that he had crafted just for her and a pair of star-shaped hair brooches that radiated with a strange power. Aster hoped to join the Templars not only to be like the man who saved her but to be able to meet him again one day.

During her teenage years, she worked as a seamstress alongside her mother, saving every coin she made until she could afford to have a crude set of armour and a shield crafted (along with some generosity from the local blacksmith). She began her journey as a knight-for-hire, where she quickly met a sorcerer and a priestess who were also acting as mercenaries. The three banded together to become far more successful, making a decent living from their work. While her comrades were content with their life, Aster kept her goal in mind. She would often do tasks for those who couldn't afford to pay, doing as much good as she could. A lot of the money she made went to crafting new and better armour.

Now only 18 years old, Aster's name has become common within the region. Ordinary people cheer for her and her friends while the wicked have come to fear her. However, always does she have her true goal in mind: the Templars.


With that said, I'd like to talk briefly about the story Aster is from, Templar Valkyrie. If you didn't check out the original design above, Aster is from a story I wrote that is inspired heavily by Chrono Trigger and that I wish to make as an action RPG (Think Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories on the GBA but WITHOUT the card system). Her design is meant to feel a bit like a valkyrie, with artwork from and inspired from Valkyrie Profile used as a basis to shape elements.

However, as much as I want to make this game I'm not currently able to. I lack the finances for it. I've thought about taking it to Kickstarter, but without a concrete team in place I can't move ahead with that (Not to mention if I do what I want to with this, I'll need a LOT of spriters). If you like it and want to see more of Templar Valkyrie, please let me know! I want to put out more artwork from Templar Valkyrie but I need to know there are people who want to see it!
